Hand-collected Eiderdown
Genuine Icelandic Eiderdown collected by hand is used in the manufacture of this ultimate duvet.
Down from the Eiderdown Duck is finer and denser than any other type of down. The clusters link together and form a type of fleece which is more efficient than any other insulating material.
This unique linking creates a duvet able to retain heat with hardly any weight at all.
How is Eiderdown sourced?
Eiderdown is collected from nests in special conservation areas which are home to eider ducks in Iceland.
Before laying their eggs, the female eider ducks naturally lose part of their down. They collect this themselves to fill their nest. Once the chicks hatch and leave their nest, specialist and certified farmers carefully collect the down without disturbing the birds. They use an ancient process which has hardly changed over many centuries. The welfare of the birds is paramount, and the nesting sites are well protected
The down is then carefully cleansed before being used in our luxury duvets.
To ensure the filling is distributed perfectly, the filling is weighed and painstakingly and evenly distributed by hand into each duvet pocket.
