Both Down and Feathers are obtained from Geese or from Ducks.
Down is the soft, fluffy clusters found on the bird’s breast underneath the feathers. They provide insulation for the bird. The down clusters are very lightweight and don’t contain a hard quill.
Feathers are the outer layer of the bird and used for flight and protection. They contain a stiff central quill and are heavier than down.
